We’re used to seeing eight teams compete for the IPL title. This time around, things are a little bit different because two new teams have been added. That’s right, Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants are the new additions to the IPL world and they have a lot to offer.
These two teams have never competed in the IPL and this year’s season will be their first. So we understand if you’re a bit curious to know their players, captains, and coaches.
In this article, we’ll be discussing all these and hopefully help you better prepare for the IPL which is scheduled to begin on March 26th.
Gujarat Titans
As the name suggests, this new IPL team is based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The Gujarat Titans are owned by Steve Koltes, Donald Mackenzie and Rolly Van Rappard. Their coach is the experienced Ashish Nehra and they will be captained by Hardik Pandya.
The Gujarat Titans have their home grounds at the Narendra Modi Stadium which has a seating capacity of 132,000. This makes it the largest stadium in the world and in some way it also acts as a motivation for this new team.
So as you can see, they are on the right path and we expect a brilliant performance from them. As for the players, we are glad to inform you that there is a well-balanced mixture of experienced players and newbies who will make sure the team performs superbly.

Will the Gujarat Titans win the IPL 2022 title?
Gujarat Titans is a team that shows promise and we wouldn’t be surprised if they win this year’s IPL title or land among the top positions. They will be competing with the likes of Mumbai Indians who have won the IPL five times, but still they have a fierceness that we see in all great cricket teams.
Hardik Pandya is the team’s captain and he has had an excellent career so far. So we are expecting the team to be well-organized and tactical. In addition, with bowlers such as Varun Aaron, the Gujarat Titans is a team that will impress a lot of cricket fans in India.
Lucknow Super Giants
Based in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, the Lucknow Super Giants are the other team that will be joining this year’s IPL. This team is owned by the RPSG Group who owned the Rising Pune SuperGiant back in 2016 and it will be coached by Andy Flower and captained by the super talented KL Rahul.
The official grounds for the Lucknow Super Giants is the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium which has a capacity of 50,000 and Puma is the Team’s kit manufacturer. The team is also sponsored by My11Circle and Zee5 which will ensure that the players have all they need to deliver a great performance.
With fourteen players from India and another seven from abroad, the Super Giants also have an impressive squad strength of 21. Meaning, you can expect a lot of action and an overall wonderful performance from them.

This year’s Mega Auction saw the Lucknow Super Giants take home a good number of players. Below is a list of all the players along with the positions they will be taking during the matches.

Will the Lucknow Super Giants win the IPL 2022 title?
The Lucknow Super Giants have a strong team that can fight its way to the top. Them having KL Rahul as their captain and Andy Flower as their coach puts them at a great advantage and we see them performing even better than the teams that have been playing in this league since 2008.
Remember that the RSPG Group was behind the Rising Punes which took the runners-up position back in 2017. So perhaps the Lucknow Super Giants may perform better than the Rising Punes and become the winner of this magnificent tournament.
Final thoughts
Ten teams will play 74 matches in this year’s IPL. It may sound like a huge number but as soon as the first match is played, the rest will come and go like the wind. We are excited to see the top-performing teams such as the Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings compete.
However, our focus will also be on the Gujarat Titans and the Lucknow Super Giants. These new teams have been wonderfully set up and we can’t to see them on the pitch.
